Rate, availability, working rhythm, contract - what people ask before bringing a contractor onto a long engagement.

What is your daily rate?
My rate starts at €500 per day and depends on the length of the assignment, the level of commitment and the technical context. A long engagement with a clear scope prices better than a short emergency fix.
Are you available, and at what notice?
Write to me: I reply within one business day with my real availability and notice period. I never commit to something I cannot deliver - I would rather decline.
Do you work on site or remotely?
Both. I am based near Strasbourg, in eastern France, and travel easily across the Grand Est region; beyond that I work remotely with regular on-site visits if the team wants them. I spent three years on site at Euro-Information: the rhythm follows the team, not the other way round.
What is the minimum length of an assignment?
I favour engagements of several months: that is when a contractor becomes worthwhile for the client, once the ramp-up is behind us. My last two salaried roles amounted to five years at the same group.
Can we work through a consultancy or a platform?
Yes. I work directly as well as through consultancies and freelancing platforms. I spent two years as a consultant at EFOR myself, so I know both sides of the contract.
Which technologies do you work with?
C#/.NET and ASP.NET Core on the back end, React/Next.js and TypeScript on the front, Blazor for full-C# applications, SQL Server and PostgreSQL for data. On the delivery side: Docker, CI/CD, automated testing. I also work on embedding language models into business tools.
Can you take over an existing application?
That is the most common case. Taking over existing code, technical debt and legacy .NET maintenance have been part of my daily work for ten years - not just greenfield projects.
How do the contract and invoicing work?
A time-and-materials contract, invoiced monthly against days worked, with an activity report. I carry professional liability insurance and am registered in France.
